Thank you for your interest in the role of Director of Housing and Communities. This new role is a significant opportunity to make your mark in one of the UK’s leading cities– a place bursting with culture, opportunity and people who are passionate about the place they call home. On this microsite you will find information about our Council Plan and priorities for the city as well as our resident-informed decision to bring our arms-length housing organisation – Your Homes Newcastle – back into the council.

A new Housing and Communities Directorate will lead on the city’s social housing and housing strategy and we’re looking for a visionary leader who understands how to improve people’s lives and deliver our social housing revolution. Working collaboratively across the city and with our communities you will lead transformational changes in social housing for the benefit of our residents and city.

You will be joining the Council at a pivotal time. We have secured a new devolution deal bringing together seven local authorities and an investment of billions of pounds into the region. We are leading the Green Industrial Age and building an inclusive future where everyone can thrive.

Assistant Director, Prevention

Thank you for your interest in the role of Assistant Director for Prevention within our Adult Social Care & Prevention Directorate. There’s a lot of information on the microsite about our ambitions and priorities for the city – but I wanted to let you know a little about the team you’ll be joining and what we’re looking for in our new Assistant Director.

As part of the city’s commitment to people in our communities, we are seeking to appoint a proactive, dynamic and positive Assistant Director for Prevention who will lead, manage and shape excellent services that make a real difference to the people in our city.

You will join an exceptionally strong and supportive team of leaders alongside a passionate and committed political leadership who are wholly focussed on delivering for people in our communities. We’re looking to appoint an Assistant Director who fits with our inclusive culture and values and who really understands how to improve people’s lives. Your clear and visible leadership, communication and engagement will be key features in this role. You will feel comfortable to engage at a city wide, regional and national level, striving for improvements across our systems through collaborative and partnership working. You will have a strong strategic approach with an eye for detail.
